Surprising Reasons You Might Be Gaining Weight

Your daily habits could be affecting your weight loss goals. Your daily lifestyle choices can have a significant affect on your weight loss goals; and at times, those choices can even make weight loss harder, even if you are following an exercise and nutrition plan. Today we’re going to look at a few things that might be contributing to your weight gain, even while sticking to your weight loss program that’s been set by your Tampa Bay weight loss specialist.

You’re Eating Way Too Many Carbohydrates

We’re not here to shun all carbs, but when you’re consuming simple unhealthy carbs, that is when it becomes a problem, especially to weight gain. Thus reducing your intake of simple carbohydrates will improve your overall health and reduce weight gain. When carbohydrates–good carbohydrates, such as whole grains, whole wheat, fruits, vegetables, and beans–are consumed in moderation, your body will be supplied with the vital energy, vitamins, and minerals it needs to function optimally.

Fad Diets

If you’re one of those people that loves to follow fad diets and lose a few pounds in a short amount of time, only to gain it all back, this is because you are not following a healthy diet plan set by your weight loss doctor. You will get better results and maintain those weight loss results when you follow a healthy and nutritious weight loss program from a certified weight loss doctor.

Lack of Sleep

Sleep is extremely important to weight loss. When your body does not get enough sleep, it will produce excess cortisol, which is a stress hormone. To compensate for this, your body will start increasing post-meal insulin production; it’s important to remember that insulin and cortisol both promote fat storage and will stimulate weight gain. Hormones play a huge role in weight gain, thus not getting enough sleep will alter the production of the hormones, leptin and ghrelin. Leptin is produced less which causes your brain to have trouble determining if you have eaten enough, and the body will over produce ghrelin which increases appetite. So losing weight can be even more difficult if you are not getting enough sleep.
